SHATNER BOLDLY TREKS TO THE RING!!

He’s been a lawyer, a starship captain, but a wrestler? Surely not? Well on Saturday March 31st, the man known to Sci Fi Fans the world over as Captain James T Kirk, William Shatner, will be renewing his relationship with the WWE.

Thankfully though, for both Sci Fi and wrestling fans alike, Mr Shatner will not be donning a pair of trunks and stepping into the ring to fight, he will infact be appearing at the companies annual Hall Of Fame Ceremony to induct, former wrestler and current company colour commentator, Jerry “The King” Lawler.

Shatner last appeared on WWE (Then WWF) television in 1995 to promote his TV show Tek War and memorably knocked “The King” out flat has been quoted recently as saying, “ I threw him back then, and now I’ll throw him right into the WWE Hall Of Fame”.

The ceremony can be seen in the US on the USA Network at Midnight/11 CT on Saturday March 31st and is part of the WWE’s celebatory buildup to it’s annual spectacular, Wrestlemania.

STARGATE PRODUCERS CONFIRM THIRD SERIES!!

After months of speculation and rumour about its existence, Stargate producers, Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper, have finally gone on the record about a third live action show in the Stargate Franchise.

The confirmation was made during an interview for MGM’s official Stargate Web site, during which the pair finally put pay to speculation by saying that a third show is in the early stages of development.

“That's definitely in the works; it’s something the studio is very actively pursuing. We have a concept that we've come up with. ... We've talked at length with the studio about what the concept is for it,” Producer, Robert C. Cooper divulged.

Cooper then went on to add that the idea could even be adapted into a possible feature film, “We came up with an idea that we thought would be a great Stargate feature that really was a separate, third entity to the two existing series," he said. "It's entirely possible that we'll turn that into the third series. I can't really say too much about it right now. But like Atlantis, it maintains the spirit of Stargate but at the same time opens up a whole new universe."

When pushed further on what we can expect, Cooper’s fellow producer, Brad Wright responded that “Whatever the third series looks like, it will maintain the key ingredients that make Stargate what it is.” He then went on to expand further on this comment, “It'll have the same flavour as Stargate SG-1," he said. "... It's the approach to the storytelling that I think makes it unique, and that makes it Stargate. And that's that it has a sense of humour, and its people from our time going on these adventures. It's not set in the future. ... I think that's what makes it unique, and I think that's what a third series would have to have for it to succeed."

If this isn’t enough to make fans happy, Robert C. Cooper went on to confirm that if all goes to plan they hope to begin development this SUMMER!! As he noted that by that point both of the forthcoming SG1 movies will be done, thus freeing up their time and allowing the studio time to finalize financing, "Hopefully by then everyone will have their ducks in a row with money. ... The goal would be to have it on the air sometime in early 2008."

So with two major announcements already this year concerning the Stargate franchise, those predicting its demise last year have now been put firmly in their place and the fans can look forward to a potentially bright future!

INCOMING WORMHOLE: MGM ANNOUNCE MORE INFO!!!

Following our recent article about the future of Stargate SG-1, MGM have released not only the casting and titles for the movies but also the general synopsis for each one.

MGM's press release has stated that "Stargate SG-1 cast members Ben Browder, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, Claudia Black and Michael Shanks are confirmed to star in both movies. It goes on to say that the  movies will be written and produced by Brad Wright and Robert Cooper, the new movies will feature the latest visual and sound effects, providing viewers with a theatrical movie-going experience." The release didn't state where or when the movies would be airing or if they would be going directly to DVD, which many believe to be the case.

As for the movie titles and their synopsis:

STARGATE:THE ARK OF TRUTH

As SG-1 searches for an Ancient artifact which they hope can defeat the armies of the Ori, they learn more Ori ships are about to be sent through the supergate to launch a final assault on Earth. Daniel discovers that the artifact, the Ark of Truth, may be in the Ori home galaxy, and SG-1 embarks aboard the Odyssey to find it, and pre-empt the attack. The IOA has a plan of their own and SG-1 ends up in a distant galaxy fighting two powerful enemies.

STARGATE:CONTINUM

While SG-1 attends the execution of Ba'al, the last of the goa'uld system lords, Teal'c and Vala inexplicably disappear into thin air. Carter, Daniel and Mitchell race back to a world where history has been changed: the Stargate program has been erased from the timeline. As they try to convince the authorities what's happened, a fleet of goa'uld motherships arrives in orbit, led by Ba'al, his queen, Katesh, (Vala) and his first prime, Teal'c. SG-1 must find the Stargate and set things right before the world is enslaved by the goa'uld.
